The Falcon Banner (The Falcon Banner Cycle, #1) - Christopher P. Lydon I can't understand why these books are not more popular. They are freaking FANTASTIC. They tell the story of Darien Taine, a cop from alien-occupied Earth who just sort of falls into a revolution and proves himself to be extraordinarily badass. It's this epic space-opera that reads a bit like a very cool SF video game; in fact, I was reminded a lot of Mass Effect. Sure, it's long (with 5 books all over 400 pages), but it's one of those stories that you get so caught up in that the in-book world starts to feel more real than the actual world. I think this would make a seriously awesome TV show.
